The aim of this project, which started in 2023 and continues successfully; It is the removal and dewatering of the domestic/industrial sludge layer that has settled over the years at the bottom of the Gulf region of Kocaeli province, from the environment with the help of dredging.

In this project, it is aimed to eliminate the internal pollutant source on the bottom of the bay, minimize the pollution level of the lake and prevent shallowing in the lake through environmentally friendly techniques and equipment.

By dredging the bottom mud of the bay and dewatering this mud; By increasing the water depth and water volume of the bay, the existing aquatic ecosystem in the bay will be allowed to return to its former natural state.

The Great Gulf Project is a project carried out jointly by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and continues successfully.
